What is better-photos?
Hi, I'm robin
I live with my family in beautiful Scotland. I’ve enjoyed photography for over 10 years. In that time I’ve learned the best techniques you need to make great photos. It’s not complicated and you don’t need fancy equipment.
I started teaching photography classes to beginners because I kept hearing people say that the photographs they took just didn’t quite look like the real thing. It’s so disappointing when that happens! The thing is – once you know some basic photographic “rules” and techniques the quality of your pictures takes a big jump.
I create Better-Photos to share these techniques with photography beginners so that everyone can make great photos of their friends, family and the great outdoors.
Frequently asked questions
Live Classes cover the same techniques as the downloadable Courses. I appreciate that people have different learning styles and while some people prefer interaction in more of a classroom environment other people prefer to watch videos in their own time.
I use Zoom to deliver the live classes with slides and videos to teach the technique of the day. Participants can ask questions at any time. Each session takes about an hour and are run on a weekly basis. I limit class sizes to less than 10 people so people have the chance to get individual help.
Normally everyone has their camera switched on for the class so that I can see everyone but if you’d rather keep yours off that’s fine.
We spend some time discussing the photo challenges of the previous week and it’s an opportunity to recap what we’ve been learning and also discuss anything that’s been particularly challenging. Then I will take you through the lesson and end with some fun challenges for you to try during the week which puts into practice what you’ve been learning.
If you are doing a Live Class then just ask me for help!
If you buy a Course I don’t want you to get stuck either so I’ve set up a private Facebook group where you can ask questions. This is open to those attending the Live Classes as well.
Yes! The cameras on phones are really good nowadays. There’s no reason why you can’t take a photograph on your phone that’s good enough to print and frame.
I have courses and classes especially for phone photography and other classes where the techniques I teach apply to phone cameras as well as the big fancy cameras that the pros use.
Yes! Have a look at the Introduction to photography class. About half the lessons focus on understanding and using the most important camera settings that will give you control of your photographs.
If after attending the first Live Class you feel it’s not really for you I’ll give you a full refund.
Equally if you find the downloadable courses aren’t what you were expecting I’ll give you a full refund.
